Iron Horse Farm is a 550 acre working cattle farm in the Ouachita Mountains on the Fourche la Fave River in Perry County. We currently have over 300 head of cattle, about a dozen horses, chickens, and goats. The farm was originally established as a thoroughbred breeding and training facility in 1970. It has 2 horse stables with 38 stalls and 2 tack rooms full of saddles, etc and a horse racing track. The farm also includes a creek, 3 fishing ponds with a gazebo and an oxbow cypress pond ideal for duck hunting. Deer and dove hunting also take place on the property. A large hay barn which will hold over 1,000 bales, a farm office, and other barns, sheds, and shelters for the animals are found throughout the farm. There are several horse pastures enclosed by miles of white fencing and cattle pastures enclosed by metal fencing. The farm has both flat pastures and rolling hills, some of which are covered by a combination of hardwood and pine trees. Roads throughout the farm are paved, gravel, and dirt. All equipment needed for the care of horses and cattle, the cutting, raking, and baling of hay, and maintenance of the horse racing track are found at the farm. There are 2 homes on the property which may be used for filming or housing for a film crew. One home is a 3 bedroom, 1 bath log cabin. The second is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 kitchen home with a fireplace. This home was originally used by the horse trainers who lived at the farm.
